I love art!  Looking at art, buying art, but especially MAKING ART!

I know that making art can be stressful for some, or not an enjoyable experience for many people.  (I know there are a ton of reasons…but I think they are all a bunch of hooey.)

Then trying to make art while grieving adds a whole other layer of emotions!

Trust me: Making art CAN be therapeutic and it can bring you peace.

Let's do something FUN and DOABLE!

SUPPLIES

1. Something to draw on: paper, cardstock, newspaper, medical bills, whatever!!!

2. Something to draw with: paint, finger paint, crayons, markers, pencils, pens, makeup, whatever!!!

3. Butterfly shape – The template I’m using is one I digitally created and is free on my website when you sign up for my newsletter here.

4. Scissors

5. Glue stick (only necessary if you do the second of the two projects.)

PROCESS

1. Paint, draw, scribble, etc and COVER the paper with color!

2. Cut out your butterfly template.

3. After your art is dry use your template and trace butterflies

4. Cut them out!

5. Display them somewhere fun.  Give them to people!  String them up and make a garland!  Frame them!

Use those scrap pieces of paper!

You’ll have some cute scraps left over after you cut out your butterflies.  Let’s use them!

1. Use your butterfly template as an outline on a blank sheet of paper.

2. Take the scraps and cut them into pieces around 1 inch or slightly smaller.

3. Use your glue stick on the butterfly outline.

4. Stick your scraps on the glue inside the butterfly

Cut it out and now you have a collage-like butterfly!

This is a great project for the whole family!

I give my 2 year old a couple of colors of paint to use.  She loves covering the paper with color.  All of the painting you see here is art that she made with colors that she chose.

With this technique I can now save her art in an easier way.

Experiment with using other shapes as well.  The sky is the limit!
